Dr. Brenna LaBarre received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with concentration in Computational Biology from Cornell University, and then received her Doctor of Philosphy degree from Boston University in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health as part of the Graduate Partnerships Program. In the lab of Dr. Laura Elnitski at the National Human Genome Research Institute, Brenna’s graduate research work examined DNA methylation patterns across diverse populations, as well as how to computationally account for confounding factors in such data. Now a postdoc working with Dr. Nikolaos Patsopoulos and Dr. Tanuja Chitnis, Brenna is involved with several MS projects looking into CD4+ T response to different drug stimuli (using both DNA methylation and RNA-seq), and single-nuclei sequencing of MS brain lesions. Brenna is an avid knitter and rarely goes anywhere without yarn, which occasionally needs to be rescued from her cat Genie.
